Black Mesa Laurel's Autumn
Born: May 1, 2004
Autumn and her brother, Zeus, were our first two goats. We got them as kids before we got Anise. Autumn is very flashy with splashes and spots. She always has one kid a year that is also spotted. For a really Flashy guy, check out her son, Flash, on our buck page. Autumn is very mild tempered and a great milker. She has nice long lines, a high well attached udder, and great body capacity. She loves car rides and is very personable.
Black Mesa Anise's Merry
Born: March 15, 2005
The daughter of Anise, Merry is our curious socialite. She is very friendly to everyone she meets. Merry is a little bit smaller than the rest of the herd, though holds her own in the milking parlor. She also has a history of producing the largest baby every year. Merry is the older twin to Quinn, our tallest girl.
Black Mesa Anise's Quinn
Born: March 15, 2005
Quinn is Merry's younger twin and Anise's daughter. She has taken over leadership of the herd from her mother. Quinn is shy and quiet, though very intelligent and calculating. She investigates any new 'threat' to the herd and acts accordingly. She has even rescued me from an attack hose (I was trying to straighten it out).
Mabie's Farm Quinn's Raven
Dam: Black Mesa Anise's Quinn
Sire: Black Mesa Tessa's Tecate
Born: March 12, 2007
Raven is the daughter of Quinn. She is a sleek lady with a gorgeous black coat. Raven inherited her mother's brains and loves to figure out gate locks. We have numerous locks on each gate now, all secured with carabiners. Raven is very friendly and sure of herself. Little bothers her and she is very inquisitive.
Mabie's Farm Merry's Kaitlyn
Dam: Black Mesa Anise's Merry
Sire: Black Mesa Tessa's Tecate
Born: March 12, 2007
Kaitlyn was born just 2 hours after her cousin, Raven. She is a splashy girl with a great udder. She is a bit jumpy and needs lots of reassurance from her humans when in new situations (hence her nickname 'Spaz'). She is an excellent mom, though does not understand nursing (which is fine with us), therefore we must be there when she has her babies to make sure they get the nutrition they need.
Mabie's Farm Autumn's Airmid
Dam: Black Mesa Laurel's Autumn
Sire: Anin's Captain Morgan
Born: 5/1/10
Airmid is named after a little known goddess of Spring and healing. She has great dairy character and a great personality. She is not 'in your face' but patiently stands and waits (as much as a goat can wait) for attention. She is growing well. We have waited a long time for Autumn to have a girl. How appropriate that she shares a birthday with her mother!
Mabie's Farm Autumn's Aina (aka Dumpling)
Dam: Black Mesa Laurel's Autumn
Sire: Black Mesa Tessa's Tecate
Born: 3/1/11
Dumpling is a very easy going girl, just like her mom. She has her mom's spots and solid ears. Dumpling recently took Reserve Jr. Nubian Doe at our local fair, beating out several other contestants!
Ragel's Ziegenhof Star Anise - Reference Doe
Born: June 11, 2001 Passed: December 23, 2010
Anise was our first adult goat, first milker, and birthed the first kids on our farm. She taught us a lot about keeping goats and always exhibited an enormous amount of patience. Anise was a true mom, adopting all of the kids as hers. She would insist in bedding down with the kids at night and would gently school them in proper goatie manners. Anise passed in 2010 from a brain tumor and is dearly missed.
