Zeus
Born: May 1, 2004
Zeus is Autumn's twin brother and one of our first goats. He is over 260 pounds and thinks he is a lap goat. He is a great pack goat and is more interested in hanging out with people and being loved. Zeus is a gentle giant whose impressive size can be intimidating, but sweet attitude easily wins over strangers.
Alex
Born: March 13, 2005
Alex was originally slated to be our herd sire, but tests revealed that he was a G6S carrier. That is a genetic disorder which is lethal as a double recessive. By not breeding positive bucks, the incidence of the disorder can be reduced, Alex is another sweetie, that our son can easily lead. We are training him as another pack goat as he also gets along really well with Zeus.
Achilles
Born: March 13, 2007
Appropriately named due to an injury suffered as a kid, Achilles is our ambassador. He has appeared on the 4-H parade float two years in a row. Achilles broke his leg when our neighbor's turkey got into our pasture and attacked the goats. Achilles's mother, Anise, did her best to protect him and the other 9 babies (she adopts all of the babies). After spending a LOT of money to repair his leg, we couldn't bear to sell him. He will always have a slight limp, but consistently gets a clean bill of health from our vet.
